Cross examination by the prosecution

Q: " Can you think, did you ever know ATF agent Anderson or ATF agent Andrews before the 26th of March 2002?"

A: " I don’t believe I did."

Q: " You work on a tiny police office, police department in a tiny town. Right?"

A: " Yes. "

Q: " They cover 44 counties in the Eastern District of North Carolina."

A: " I, I do not know. That could very well be."

Q: " Tell us. Any reason why they would bear you ill will?"

A: " No I couldn’t."

Q: " Now, but you do agree that, that description of Crawford and Speers is completely inconsistent with this searching the highway 400 yards at a shot right?"

A: " If, what they say, yes."

Q: " Would you agree with the proposition that it is just a surpassing coincidence that you pull up to one point on essentially um innocuous piece of highway with nothing by, walk to one spot, walk over and find for the first time a very sophisticated pipe bomb?"

A: " I had covered approximately, I’d say 30 to 40 yards already before I trekked back and recovered the first device."

Q: " Even taking that, taking it 30 yards, what are the, don’t you agree that the odds of that are just, it’s striking? It’s striking how what a coincidence that must have been that you would pulled up to one 30 yard stretch?"

A: " Well when I do my segments it would, eventually I would get to the whole road so it’s just a matter of time."
