Additional Testimonials
For those who have come directly to this page and have not visited my homepage, my name is Mark McClish. I am a retired Deputy United States Marshal. For nine years, I taught interviewing techniques at the United States Marshals Service Training Academy which is located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA. During this time I developed the Statement Analysis® techniques for detecting deception in a verbal and written statement.

The Statement Analysis techniques are the most accurate way of determining if a person is being truthful or deceptive. A person cannot give a lengthy deceptive statement without revealing it is a lie. This is because people’s words will betray them. There are usually several ways you can phrase a statement. People will always word their statement based on all their knowledge. Therefore, their statment may include information they did not intend to share. This online course in Statement Analysis will teach you how to tell if a person is lying in a verbal and written statement by examining the words a person uses. This course is available to anyone who wants to improve their listening and interviewing skills.

There are two objectives to this online training.

1. Identify methods of analyzing a subject's verbal and written statement to detect deception.
As you listen to or read someone's statement, you need to know if the person is being truthful. This is especially true if you are conducting an interview. If the subject is misleading you and you do not realize this, you will conclude the interview having obtained little information or perhaps bad information.

2. Learn how to recognize what a subject is telling you based on the language used.
Often people tell us one thing but we hear something different. This is because we have the tendency to interpret what a person has said. However, you should never interpret because people mean exactly what they are saying. By analyzing each word in a statement, you will be able to recognize exactly what a person has said and gain additional information.

People's words will betray them if someone is there to listen. This online training will show you how to detect deception when conducting an interview, when engaged in a causal conversation, when reading an article or when watching an interview on television. This training will focus on how to analyze a written statement. However, the techniques can also be used when analyzing a verbal statement.

This online training has eight lessons and a review. At the end of each lesson there are two statements you will have to analyze using the techniques taught in the lesson. You will have to submit your analysis to me using an online form. I will review your analysis and provide you with feedback that will help you in understanding the techniques. After completing a lesson, I will send you the link to begin the next lesson. Each lesson provides you with more techniques to use. You can complete the training at your own pace.

Upon signing up for the training, you will receive in the mail a Statement Analysis workbook. This workbook is designed to interact with the online training. There will be certain information you will have to obtain from the website and record in the workbook. The workbook is not a verbatim transcript of the information listed online. Therefore, each page has a "notes" section where you can write down some additional information or some of the examples listed online to help you remember the techniques. The workbook will contain your username and password to access the training. Your username and password will be valid for ninety (90) days from the time you purchase the training. This will give you plenty of time to complete the course. I want everyone to complete the training, so if life gets busy I will be glad to give you an extension beyond the 90 days. The cost for the training is $150. Once you have completed the training I will send you a certificate of completion.

All of my training and studies have been in the United States. Therefore, this training is based on the English language as spoken in the United States. Cultural differences and phrases used in other countries may have to be taken into consideration when analyzing a statement that is not in English. The majority of the techniques will apply no matter what language a person is speaking. Please click the links in the left hand column for additional information and to purchase the training. If you have any questions that are not answered in the FAQ, please send me an email.

If you have attended one of my seminars, all of the information in this online training is in the workbook you received at the seminar.
