After many requests, I have put together an online course in Statement Analysis. This course will cover the same techniques that I teach in my one day seminar. You will be able to take this training at your own pace. You do not have to miss work and there are no travel expenses. (I realize that sometimes you do want to get away from the office!)

There are two objectives to this online training.

1. Identify methods of analyzing a subject's verbal and written statement to detect deception.
As you listen to or read someone's statement, you need to know if the person is being truthful. This is especially true if you are conducting an interview. If the subject is misleading you and you do not realize this, you will conclude the interview having obtained little information and perhaps bad information.

2. Learn how to recognize what a subject is telling you based on the language used.
Often people tell us one thing but we hear something different. This is because we have the tendency to interpret what people are saying. However, you should not interpret because people mean exactly what they are saying. By paying attention to each word used in the statement, you will be able to recognize what a person is saying and gain additional information from the subject.

People's words will betray them if someone is there to listen. This online training will show you what to listen for in a person's statement. This course is primarily designed to teach an investigator how to use the Statement Analysis techniques when conducting an interview. However, the techniques can be used by anyone in a causal conversation, when reading a newspaper or magazine, and when watching an interview on television. This training will focus on how to analyze a written statement. Most of the techniques can also be used when analyzing a verbal statement.

This online training has eight lessons and a review. At the end of each lesson there are two statements that you will have to analyze using the techniques taught in the lesson. You will have to submit your analysis to me using an online form. I will review your analysis and provide you with feedback that will help you in understanding the techniques. After completing a lesson, I will send you the link to begin the next lesson. Each lesson provides you with more techniques to use. You can complete the training at your own pace.

Upon signing up for the training, you will receive in the mail a 56 page workbook. This workbook is designed to interact with the online training. There will be certain information you will have to obtain from the website and record in the workbook. The workbook is not a verbatim transcript of the information listed online. Therefore, each page has a "notes" section where you can write down some additional information or some of the examples listed online to help you remember the techniques. The workbook will contain your username and password to access the training. Your username and password will be valid for sixty (60) days giving you plenty of time to go through the training.

The cost of the training is only $125 which is significantly less than the cost to attend a seminar. Once you have completed the training I will send you a certificate of completion.

All of my training and studies have been in the United States. Therefore, this training is based on the English language as spoken in the United States. Cultural differences and phrases used in other countries may have to be taken into consideration when analyzing a statement that is not in English. The majority of the techniques will apply no matter what language a person is speaking. Please click the links in the left hand column for additional information and to purchase the training.

If you have attended one of my seminars, you do not need to take this training. All of the information in this online training is in the workbook you received at the seminar. If you have any questions that are not answered in the FAQ, please send me an email.
