After many requests, I have put together an online course in Statement Analysis. This course will cover the same techniques that I teach in my one day seminars. You will be able to take this training at your own pace. You do not have to miss work and there are no travel expenses. (I realize that sometimes you do want to get away from the office!)

There are two objectives to this online training.

1. Identify methods of analyzing a subject's verbal and written statement to detect deception.
As you listen to or read someone's statement you need to know if the person is being truthful. This is especially true if you are conducting an interview. If the subject is misleading you and you do not realize this, you will conclude the interview having obtained little information and perhaps bad information.

2. Learn how to recognize what a subject is telling you based on the language used.
Often times people tell us one thing but we hear something different. This is because we have the tendency to interpret what people are saying. However, you should not interpret because people mean exactly what they are saying. By paying attention to each word used in the statement, you will be able to recognize what a person is saying and gain additional information from the subject.

People's words will betray them if someone is there to listen. This online training will show you what to listen for in a person's statement. This course is primarily designed to teach an investigator how to use the Statement Analysis techniques when conducting an interview. However, the techniques can also be used in a causal conversation, when reading a newspaper or magazine, and when watching an interview on television. This training will focus on how to analyze a written statement and will discuss how these techniques can be used when analyzing a verbal statement.

This training has eight lessons and a review. At the end of each lesson there are several tests you can take to see if you are grasping the techniques taught in that particular lesson. Each lesson provides you with more techniques to use. At the end of the training, there is a review of the techniques and eight more statements for you to analyze and compare your analysis with a completed analysis.

Upon signing up for the training, you will receive in the mail a 60 page workbook. This workbook is designed to interact with the online training. There will be certain information you will have to obtain from the website and record in the workbook. This workbook is not a verbatim transcript of the information listed online. Therefore, each page has a "notes" section where you can write down some additional information or some of the examples listed online to help you remember the techniques. In the workbook, will be your username and password to access the training. Your username and password will be valid for thirty days giving you plenty of time to go through the eight lessons and review.

All of my training has been in the United States. Therefore, this training is based on the English language as spoken in the United States. Cultural differences, words and phrases used in other countries may have to be taken into consideration when utilizing some of the techniques. The majority of the techniques will apply no matter what language a person is speaking.

Please click the links in the left hand column for additional information and to purchase the training. You can check out an edited version of Lesson One under "Preview The Training" to get an idea what you will be receiving. Remember in this sample version you will not have the workbook which interacts with the training. To access the sample training, use the username deception and the password liar.

If you have attended one of my one day seminars, you do not need to take this training. All of the information in this online training is in the workbook you received. If you have any questions that are not answered in the FAQ, please send me an email.
