Ground Fighting Techniques For Law Enforcement Officers
In addition to teaching interviewing techniques, I was also the lead defensive tactics instructor at the U.S. Marshals Service Training Academy from 1992 - 1999. I introduced ground fighting to the Marshals Service as well as to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. I had the opportunity to go to Torrrance, CA and work out with three time Ultimate Fighting Champion Royce Gracie who helped to refine the program that I was teaching. I also went to the Naval Special Warfare Center in Coronado, CA and trained with the Navy Seals. I was invited to attend their "Combat Fighting Course" formerly known as SCARS. To my knowledge, Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Arthur and myself are the only two civilians who have been allowed to take this training.
I left the Training Academy in 2000 and went back into the field as a Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal. That same year I made the Ground Fighting Techniques DVD which shows you how to survive when the fight goes to the ground. Although this DVD is designed for the law enforcement officer anyone will benefit from these techniques. These are some of the same techniques taught in a jiu jitsu class but taken one step further. For example, instead of breaking someone's arm, this DVD will show you how to maintain control of the subject and force him onto his stomach for handcuffing.
The DVD is approximately 40 minutes in length and comes with a 20 page 8 1/2 x 11 spiral bound manual. The manual corresponds with the DVD, contains 60 photographs and fully explains all of the techniques. This manual makes it easy for you to reference and refresh your memory on the techniques taught in the DVD.
The total cost for the DVD and manual is $20. Click here to order. All orders are processed through The Marpa Group.
